Built during colonial times by the British in 1954, the train is the local commuter rail network that serves the Yangon metropolitan area. The loop network consists of 39 stations, linking various parts of Yangon. The entire circular trip takes approximately 3 hours. It is a glimpse into the daily life of many Burmese people, seeing them commute to work from their villages and witnessing what the real Yangon looks like out of the city.
